Challenge #325-Mother's Day

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Challenge #325-Mother's Day
Make a project about Mother's Day.

This Weeks Sponsor

Create a project inspired by Mother's Day

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

Here is my project-

Front

Back

I chose to make this box card from SVG Cuts called Box Cards SVG Kit.  I added two Cricut cuts to it-the Happy Mothers Day sentiment from Florals Embellished, and the envelope on the back from Tags, Bags, and More. The papers are from Lili of the Valley (UK Company-magazine freebie!), along with scraps from my stash. I added pearls to all of the flowers centers (stash remnants), and added white accents to the boring green flower (white Uni-ball Signo gel pen). I found a nice Mothers Day poem on the internet and printed it on regular copy paper, trimmed, folded, and stamped MOM (Paper Smooches Pretty Momma set, Forest Moss Distress Oxide Ink) to insert into the envelope on back. Let's face it, box cards don't have a lot of room for poems!

Make a Mother's Day card for a mom in your life-she'll love you for it!

First off, I have to say that I love Distress Oxide inks. But when the Squeezed Lemonade came out, I HAD to make yellow flowers with it. The trick with layering the DO inks is to let them thoroughly dry between layers. Here is the materials list for this card:
  1. Stamps & Dies: Painted Greetings, Painted Flowers (Altenew).
  2. Inks: flowers (Squeezed Lemonade, Gathered Twigs, Distress Oxides-Memento Rich Cocoa), leaves (Sage, Bamboo Versacolor-Forest Moss Distress Oxide), sentiment (Memento Rich Cocoa)
  3. Paper: white cs, yellow chevron (unknown).
Make sure you enter a die cut project for a chance at an Altenew gift certificate!

Here is my project-

I always wondered what I would make with this balloon paper-but it was perfect for this card! There was paper connection the balloons to the Happy Birthday sentiment, so I just cut those off and glued twine to the back of the balloons and letters. I added white gel pen highlights to give definition to the balloons. Here are the materials I used-
  1. Image: sentiment, Classroom - October & November (Cricut Design Space).
  2. Paper: balloon paper, red polka dot paper (DJ Inkers), blue, red cardstock (Recollections).
  3. Other: red & white twine (American Crafts), white gel pen (Signo Uniball).

Happy Monday and welcome to another Monday challenge!

Challenge #323-Anything Goes with optional twist: Sequins

The prize is this wonderful sequin collection-

To qualify for the prize, be sure to use at least 1 Cricut cut on your project and if it's not obvious, let us know what cartridge you used. If you use a Cricut Explore machine, at least one cut must be from the Cricut catalog of images.

If it isn't a card, you will get two entries into the drawing!

Here is my project-

Inside written with Cricut Explore-

This card came together so quick! The cloud paper is from Echo Park, and the hot air balloon is from Close to My Heart Artiste, and is perfect for a shaker card. I cut three layers of craft foam with my Explore, and one layer of Cuttlebug Acetate to make the shaker body. The black dot paper is from the Black Currant DCWV stack, and the base of the balloon is a scrap of light teal cardstock. Too bad my husband was rushing me to get the card done, and that the sequin got into excess glue-but it did dry clear! The congratulations sentiment is Spellbinders Sentiment One die cut, and the inside was written with my Cricut-I don't have any retirement stamps, so this was fantastic to finish the card! My shaker sequins are from Hero Arts Frosty Winter mix, and I added white chunky glitter to make a little more noise.

I do wish I could've had more time to decorate the balloon-adding a banner, flowers, or twine for ropes! But it's cute anyway.
Make sure to enter for a chance at those fabulous sequins from our sponsor, Spiegelmom Scraps!

A is for April, and Altenew!

Our wonderful sponsor for April is Altenew. The prize for April is a $30 gift certificate and the theme is "Anything Goes".

April 1st is April Fool's Day. April Fools' Day (sometimes called All Fools' Day) is celebrated every year on April 1 by playing practical jokes and spreading hoaxes. The jokes and their victims are called April fools. People playing April Fool jokes expose their prank by shouting April Fool. Some newspapers, magazines, and other published media report fake stories, which are usually explained the next day or below the news section in small letters. Although popular since the 19th century, the day is not a public holiday in any country.
